Bellbottom Overalls

Bill Ludwig

Is she a farmer? Is she a hippie? Got a boyfriend? Girlfriend? That quirky girl that works down at the feed store has got the whole town abuzz!

This song's all banjos, harmonicas and accordions with a splash of bass, washboard and lagerphone. An old-timey toe-tapper worthy of a twirl at the Solstice Ball!

Bill Ludwig has spent the last five months of quarantine learning to play the cheap mandolin he bought in September, 2020. But instead of taking lessons or watching Youtube videos or something useful like that, he decided to plunk away and write songs on this new instrument.

The resulting album is raw, stripped-down and full of simple songs written by an accomplished songwriter handicapped by an inability to fluently play his instrument. A fun and exciting challenge resulting in a set of compelling songs often relying on strong vocal melodies and thick, lush harmonies.

This track is itself Bill's take on "an Irish toast" - released in time for St Patrick's Day, 2021.

My own original folk arrangement of The Star Spangled Banner.

I recorded a demo of it a few months back for potential inclusion on the last MARMO album, but it didn't quite fit the format. Since then I've been playing it live and am quite fond of it.

I recorded a demo of it a few months back for potential inclusion on the last MARMO album, but it didn't quite fit the format. Since then I've been playing it live and am quite fond of it.

So, here I am on coronavirus lockdown with a home studio in the basement. What better way to fill some time than to film myself putting together an official recording and releasing it as a single?

I hope you dig it.

Three Cheers For Manchester!

Bill Ludwig

An original Irish drinking song for my hometown of Manchester, CT! As the Official Town Troubadour of Manchester, what better way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and my town than with a tale of Leprechauns hiding gold set to an Irish pub song?!?

Featuring the amazing Irish fiddle stylings of Stephen Prout!
